Executive Summary

• Construction backlogs were down 6.5% from prior month as construction payrolls increased 0.4%
• Total construction backlogs increased by +6.5% from last month with heavy infrastructure construction lagging other markets
• Current backlogs are 19.1% lower than last year
• The United States gained 300K jobs in November and 30K of these were in the construction market (seasonally adjusted)
  • The construction industry grew by +0.4% vs. +0.2% for all industries
  • General contractors in non-residential construction had the most gains in November vs. October, +1.1%, 
• November was the 7th straight month of increased employment form the lows of April
• Recruiting starts have increased dramatically in the last 30 days
