Executive Summary

• Construction backlogs increased in June vs. May of 2021 and June of 2020 by +6.3% and 4.9% respectively
• Total construction backlogs increased by +6.3% from last month with infrastructure construction growing fastest
• Current backlogs are 4.9% higher than than last year
• The United States lost 135K jobs in June from May while the construction industry lost 13K jobs vs. last month. 
  • The construction industry grew +3.3% vs. the prior year with all sectors employing more people
  • General contractors in residential construction grew and are employing 9.0% more people than the prior year
• All Contractors have more people employed than at this time last year
